Ennio Fazioli & MIM

Ennio Fazioli founded the MIM furniture company in Roma in 1958.

The Scandinavian modern design had just been introduced to Italy and was very influential to young designers. But Fazioli wanted to combine the northern qualities of functionality and simplicity to Italian lightness and elegance.

Fazioli’s project was approved and supported by the famous art and architecture scholar, Bruno Zevi.

Gio Ponti introduced the young entrepreneur to Ico Parisi. The latter was in charge of designing the first collection soon to be exhibited Largo dei Lombardi, in October 1958.

It comprised various tables, chairs, chests, desks, bookshelves , all met with great success.

Other major designers contributed to the company such as Bruno Munari, Carlo Scarpa or Vittorio Gregotti.

New showrooms were added in Italy in Bologna, Turin, Milan, Napoli and in Europe in Paris, Brussels, Antwerp.

During the 70s, MiM gets more and more involved in great corporate projects, they furnish Alitalia, the European Community, or the new Milan airport.
