SERGIO MAZZA
Sergio Mazza (1931-2010)
Sergio Mazza was a major contributor to modern Italian design and architecture.
Born in Milan in 1931, he studied architecture in Lausanne.
In 1959, he founded the Artemide company with Ernesto Gismondi and earned immediately a great success with the Delta and Alfa lamps.
In 1961, he started a new collaboration with Giuliana Gramigna (1929-2016). Together they founded SMC Architecture studio. They created many innovative lights and furniture for Quattrifolio, Cinova, Arflex.
They also created the Ottagono magazine in 1966 and directed it until 1988.
