UMBERTO RIVA

Umberto Riva (1928-2021)

 

Umberto Riva studied architecture in Venice under Carlo Scarpa.

He began his practice in Milan in 1960. He was involved in architectural projects and also in lighting design.

He created many remarkable lamps such as the E63 for tacchini in 1963, the medusa for VeArt in 1972, the Veronese for Barovier & Toso in 1984.

Riva was also a teacher at the Politecnico di Milano, in Palermo and Venice.

He received the Medaglia dOro all’Architettura Italiana in 2003.
