PIERRE PAULIN

Pierre Paulin (1927-2009)

 

Pierre Paulin graduated from the Ecole Camondo in Paris in 1950.

Trained with Maxime Old, he collaborated with Marcel Gascoin and soon with the Thonet France company. For them he created the CM196 chair.

He gave many iconic models to Artifort, such as the Mushroom (1960), the Ribbon chair (1966) Tongue chair (1967).

These chairs share Paulin’s organic style, the hard shells filled with foam and upholstered with stretch colored fabric.

His works belong in important private collections and museums such as the MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
