Yrjö Kukkapuro (1933-2025)
Yrjö Kukkapuro was a major Finnish architect and designer of the 20th Century.
He studied design at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki in the 50s.
His innovative approach included the use of new materials like fiber glass.
He created furniture ranges with interchangeable elements of different shapes and colors, allowing infinite variations.
Kukkapuro was also deeply interested in ergonomics. His chairs have a reputation for great comfort.
His most famous is the iconic Karuselli armchair included in the collections of Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
