Giuliana Gramigna (1929-2016)

 

Born in Milan, Giuliana Gramigna is an important figure of Italian modern design.

She contributed both as a creative and a theorician.

Her career is marked by her long association with Sergio Mazza (1931-2010).

Together they founded SMC Architecture studio. They created many innovative lights and furniture for Quattrifolio, Cinova, Arflex.

They also created the famous Ottagono magazine in 1966.

Giuliana Gramigna made an important contribution to the story of Italian design, the Repertio del Design Italiano, 1950-1980, is a seminal work in this domain.
