ENZO MARI

Enzo Mari (1932-2020)

 

Enzo Mari was born in Cerano in Piedmont. From 1952, he studied in Milan at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.

After graduating he met Bruno Danese, founder of the eponymous company.

With Danese, he was able to develop his vision for affordable and popular design objects.

He created a very extensive range of utilitarian products, very simple in materials yet with strong sculptural qualities.

Mari collaborated with other important companies such as Artemide, Zanotta, Driade.

He was also a teacher in various universities, in the University di Parma, Academia di Belli Arti di Carrara, the Politecnico di Milano, the Isia in Firenze.

He received five « Compassi d’Oro », the highest Italian award for design.
