GIANCARLO PIRETTI

Giancarlo Piretti (1940-2026)

 

Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna in 1940. There he studied at the Istituto di Belle Arti.

Having graduated, Piretti started a fruitful collaboration with Anonima Castelli as head designer.

Among the works created with this company, the « Plia » is a masterwork of modern design, combining esthetics and functionality. This chair received many design awards and international commercial success.

With Emilio Ambasz, he created the Vertebra chair system awarded with a Compasso d’Oro in 1981.
