Torbjørn Afdal (1917-1999)
Torbjørn Afdal was born in Bergen, Norway and studied at the Bergen School of Arts and Crafts.
He started his career at Bruksbo Tegnekontor in 1946 where he became a successful designer.
His works were bought by famous international clients, the Japanese Emperor and Jackie Kennedy when in the White House among them.
His style was deeply influenced by Danish design tradition demonstrated by the use of teak and rosewood and elegant and functional lines.
His most popular works include the Hunter Chair and the Krobo Bench.
