Junzô Sakakura

An architecture for mankind

April 26th - July 8th 2017

A Japanese architect and Le Corbusier disciple in the 30s, Junzô Sakakura (1901-1969) was at the avant-garde of the modern movement in Japan. Author of the Japanese pavilion at the International Exhibition of Paris in 1937, he is awarded the Grand Prix for architecture and becomes the first Japanese architect with worldwide recognition.

80 years after, the MCJP pays tribute with this exhibition allowing to discover his  works and career through his Parisian stays and links. This event will also give an idea of the work done by the National Archives of Modern Architecture of Japan, explain the story of Japanese-French exchanges and help realize the contribution of Japanese architects to modernism.
